38. Raw Sewage:

39. Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC):

  • A sewage treatment method where settled sewage flows through a trough containing rotating media.

  • Key Features:

    • Biological film (biomass) forms on the media surface.

    • Pollutants are oxidised through contact with sewage and air.

    • The BMS Aerotor is a next-generation RBC:

      • Actively aerates settled sewage, enhancing the aerobic process.

    • Also known as:

      • Rotary Biological Contactor.

      • Biodisc or Biodisk.

41. Saran Filter:

  • A tertiary treatment system integrated into the humus tank of a Blivet.

  • Features:

    • Membrane with 783-micron pore size.

    • Focuses on reducing suspended solids (SS).

42. Secondary Settlement Tank:

  • See Humus Tank.

43. Separate System:

  • A sewerage system where foul water and surface water are conveyed in separate sewers.

  • Opposite of a Combined System.

  • The waterborne waste of a community, premises, or process.
