Package Sewage Treatment System Case Studies

Supply of Package Sewage Treatment Plants to US Military Camps, Iraq, Middle East Case Study

Project Overview:

BMS was selected, after a competition, as the only specified supplier of sewage treatment plants for US Military Camps in Iraq.

BMS were responsible for the design, manufacture and supply of BMS BL4000 Blivet ‘all in one’ WWTP’s to the GCC region.

The Blivet was selected for several reasons;

  • its portability and ease of commissioning/maintenance (it fits in a standard 40-foot container for delivery),

  • its ISO 9001:2008 Quality,

  • its unrivalled worldwide reference list and

  • its class-leading Whole Life Cost.

The Blivet can be placed above or below ground without the need for a concrete surround on a temporary or permanent basis.

The Plants were designed to produce BOD 25 mg/l and Suspended Solids (SS) 25 mg/l effluent.

BMS Construction/Installation Details: BMS was responsible for the design, manufacture & supply of 15+ 500 Population Equivalent units suitable for flows of 100,000 l (26,400 USG).  In special consideration of the very hot climate in the Middle East, BMS manufactured the plants in aircraft grey rather than the usual british racing car green.

BMS Operation/Maintenance Details: The BL4000 Blivet was delivered in a standard 40 foot container.  After a few hours assembly the Blivet’s were commissioned.  All that was required after assembly was connecting the inlet/outlet pipes and the electricity.  KBR assembled, commissioned and maintained the units.

Final Effluent Standard: BOD 25 mg/l SS 35 mg/l
