Case Study on Clondra Sewage Treatment Plant

Client: Longford County Council, Ireland.

Address: Clondra Village, Co. Longford

Brief: Design, manufacture, supply and install and operate (including civil works) a 600 PE Sewage Treatment plant for the village of Clondra, Co. Longford.

Design: BMS installed 2 No. Blivet BL3000 Package Sewage Treatment Plants, along with an inlet screen and extensive civil works.  This included a new control house, fencing, landscape works and a new electrical control panel.  A further 15 months of O&M services were also included in the contract.

BMS Construction/Installation Details: BMS was responsible for the entire contract including all civil works, control house construction, commissioning, testing and O&M.

BMS Operation/Maintenance Details: The plant was designed to have a minimal impact on Clondra, which is a small scenic village on the Grand Canal and the River Shannon. BMS carried out approximately three years of O&M on the plant since the initial commissioning.  The sewage treatment plant consistently surpassed performance specifications during this period.

Final Effluent Standard: BOD: 25mg/L, COD 125mg/L SS 35mg/L
